Here’s What’s Next for India’s First All-Women Commando Unit From CISF?
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was made history on 24 August 2025 by inducting its very first women commando unit. Inducted for front-line duty, the unit indicates the way women are shattering glass ceilings in the security forces of the nation and entering men’s strongholds of occupation.
Specialized Deployment
A combination of male commandos and women commandos will be commanded and deployed to major and high-security areas such as airports, the Delhi Metro complex, Parliament, and national icons. They will conduct anti-terror operations, quick response, and strategic protection of infrastructure.
Rigorous Training
The police force is also being trained at present with the improved commando style in Madhya Pradesh according to the National Security Guard (NSG) guidelines. It covers improved weapons handling, combat fighting skills, urban warfare training, and high-intensity endurance tests, which make them capable of countering any threat.
Additional Opportunities for Women
The induction process continues on when CISF is going to induct almost 70,000 new faces in the next five years and allocating special thrust areas for induction of women in bulk. It will not only provide strength to the force, but also open entry gates for lots of additional women to get inducted as specialists and leadership cadre.
Beyond Security: Sports & Adventure
Besides commando operations, CISF is also increasing its adventure and sports companies. The force carried out the largest recruitment drive of sportspersons in the history of the country and inducted over 200 sportswomen. It has even set up a mountaineering company with the aim to climb Mount Everest in 2026. These all say a lot about the humongous canvas of empowering women in CISF.
Looking Ahead
Women commando unit is just the start. What is in the offing:
Training Completion: Ongoing tough-guy commando-grade training.
Deployment: Tactical deployment to highly secure sites across the nation.
Recruitment Drive: Generation of thousands of additional job opportunities for women in CISF.
Leadership Roles: Women having greater liberty to climb up the ranks.
Holistic Growth: Sport, mountaineering, and others giving new dimensions to women involvement.
Conclusion
CISF women commando force is the blue print of Indian security history. Not metaphorical, it’s a move ahead of time when women are in charge of national defense, leadership, and authority. With rigorous training, strategic mobilization, and free movement anywhere, this is a move which is soon going to redefine the role of women in India’s army.
